Whistleblowing Claims

Whistleblowing Claims – Unfair Dismissal – Employment Law Claims

In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s public inquiries into major disasters found that many employees had had serious concerns about safety but were afraid to speak out and make whistleblowing claims for fear of reprisals by their employers.  The Public Interest Disclosure Act provides ‘whistleblowers’ with protection against victimisation.  Call 01925 937070 to speak to an employment law solicitor or simply complete the ‘Contact our Solicitors’ form at the bottom of this webpage.

If you are dismissed or selected for redundancy for making a protected disclosure you can bring an unfair dismissal claim in the employment tribunal.

Am I eligible to make a whistleblowing claim?

Unlike ordinary unfair dismissal claims you do not need to have worked for your employer for a minimum of two years.  There is no minimum qualifying period.

What is the maximum compensation that the Employment Tribunal can award?

Again, whistleblowing claims under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998, are unlike ordinary unfair dismissal claims in that the amount of compensation that can be awarded is uncapped.
