Psychiatric Illness Compensation

Psychiatric Illness Compensation

Psychiatric illness can cause a number of long term health problems and can be difficult to treat. Although some conditions can be more obvious and severe in their symptoms, all psychiatric illness can have a detrimental effect on the lives of sufferers and those around them.

  • Minor damage taking in to account the length of the period of disability and the extent to which activities and sleep are affected – £1,000 to £4,000
  • Moderately severe taking in to account the injured person’s ability to cope with life and work; the effect on the injured person’s relationships with family/friends; the extent to which treatment would be successful and future vulnerability with marked improvement by trial and a good prognosis – £4000 to £13,500
  • Moderately severe the progress will be much more optimistic than in severe cases.  To include work related stress resulting in a permanent or long standing disability preventing a return to comparable employment – £13,500 to £37,500
  • Severe marked problems with respect to the factors considered below and the prognosis will be very poor £37,500 to £77,000
