Free Legal Advice in Warrington
Posted on 8th January 2021 at 11:10
Unfortunately due to Government cutbacks Legal Aid is now only available in very limited cases. This has led to many solicitors’ firms attempting to plug the gap by providing free legal advice wherever possible (known as “pro bono” advice).
My firm has always been at the forefront of providing free legal advice in those areas that we cover, such as accident claims, clinical negligence and professional negligence claims against solicitors. In cases where advice is required in relation to settlement agreements (eg in a redundancy situation) our policy is to charge the Employer.
However, despite the efforts of the legal profession to help wherever possible, there have been fears of advice deserts developing whereby it will not be possible to obtain free or affordable legal advice in certain areas. This will effectively prevent access to justice.
Although there is no substitute for seeking legal advice which is specific to your circumstances, many people recognise that the internet is a good source of information and is of some assistance in at least signposting organisations who may be able to provide some guidance and support.
The following websites may prove to be a useful starting point:-
Legal Aid https://www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid
Employment law http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1461
Debt, welfare benefits, general – Citizens Advice Bureau http://www.warrington.gov.uk/info/200753/debt_and_money_advice/105/citizens_advice_bureau
As there is little prospect of Legal Aid being reinstated by any Government in the foreseeable future, we can only hope that any fears about legal advice deserts never materialise.
