Condolences 

 

We at DSM Legal were very saddened to hear about the death of Denise Hendry on Friday 10th July 2009.  We wish to pass on our sincere condolences to Colin Hendry and his family. 

 

Denise, who was 43 and a mother of four, contracted a serious infection after an operation to correct botched cosmetic surgery which she underwent in 2002.

 

Regrettably, there is a lack of information about the competence of surgeons and negligence claims against some doctors who cause harm to patients have soared.

 

The patients' charity Action against Medical Accidents (AVMA) is so concerned it is considering setting up an independent group to provide information on surgeons' success rates.

Peter Walsh chief executive of AVMA has stated that "This is an area crying out for better regulation.”

Denise herself raised awareness of what can go wrong and in so doing she may have helped to prevent the suffering of others.
